The ISQ 5-LO from IMPAC is a stationary, digital 2-colour pyrometer with fibre-optics for non-contact temperature measurement between 700 and 2500°C. For the measurements the 2-colour principle (ratio principle) is used, in which the amplitudes of two different wavelengths are divided to calculate the temperature. This technique offers the advantage that the measurements are almost independent from the emissivity of the object in wide ranges and normally unaffected by dust and other contaminants in the field of view or by dirty viewing windows. The measuring object could be smaller than the spot size. The pyrometer can be switched to 1-colour mode and used as a conventional pyrometer.
The optical fibre (length up to 30 m) can be used in very high ambient temperatures (up to 250°C) and is unaffected by electromagnetic interferences. Two different optical heads permit very small spot sizes (min 0,45 mm); the short response time of 10 milliseconds allows fast processes to be monitored.
For an optimal alignment of the instrument, the ISQ 5-LO is equipped with laser targeting light. A built-in maximum value storage, digital interface (RS232 or RS485), analog output (0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA), as well as the possibility to set the most important parameters directly in the instrument or via the PC, top off the profile of this compact precision-pyrometer. Suitable applications would include induction heating, welding, casting, forging, annealing, sintering, rolling mills, rotary kilns or pouring streams.
