The industrial-grade FL Hub 8TX-ZF hubs from the Phoenix Contact Factory Line series, allow networks to be expanded right down to the field level quickly, cost-effectively, and without the need for configuration. The compact hub design, measuring just 45 mm in width, means the module is ideal for universal application in distributed control cabinets and terminal boxes.
The Fast Ethernet Hub is equipped with eight RJ-45 ports to connect further network segments or end devices. The hub supports transfer rates of 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps on Ethernet, which makes it possible to couple network devices with the same data transfer rates. The slide switch fitted on the front of the module permits the fifth port to be easily reconfigured to become a (crossover) uplink port. The advantage here is that the same type of Ethernet cable can be used to connect additional hubs. This eliminates the costs of storing two different types of Ethernet cables, which are normally required to link end devices and Ethernet infrastructure components (hubs).
The hub offers a further power supply in the shape of the Combicon spring cage, designed to simplify and speed up the provision of power to the subsequent hub. The module also meets the tough demands placed by the Powerlink Ethernet standard in full.
Why secure industrial communication depends on deployment as well
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
The Industrial Security Harmonisation Group has released a joint industry perspective highlighting a critical truth in industrial cybersecurity: secure communication is not determined by protocols alone, but by how they are deployed and managed in real-world environments.
