Data collecting and storing
March 2006
Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration
In today's competitive markets continually increasing productivity and efficiency demands, every resource must run as close to 100% efficient as possible. One of the last and largely untapped business areas that does make a difference is the collection and storage of accurate and up-to-date plant and process data.
The flexible and scaleable eTX data historian system is able to connect to virtually any control system via Kepware OPC, collect the required data from the PLC or DCS and store the data in SQL, Access or Oracle. The data access tools include an Excel add-in which allows the user to browse the stored data points and import the data into Excel and a Report Tool for extracting, trending and tabulating stored data. The largest benefit of storing raw data automatically is that it can be used in many different ways for many different purposes.
* Fault finding.
* Maintenance requirements.
* Downtime monitoring.
* Staff productivity.
* Machine efficiency.
* Quality.
* Process standards and consistency.
* Historical records of plant data.
* Knowledge of all activities within the plant.
The eTX data collection system offers an economical foundation solution to meet all of these potential needs including collecting remote data via GPRS.
