Easy integration of I/O signals with Profinet

The new Inline Block IO Module ILB PN 24 DI16 DIO16-2TX from Phoenix Contact makes it possible to integrate I/O signals with a Profinet system easily and quickly. Sixteen fixed inputs and 16 freely assignable inputs or outputs allow for the flexible adaptation to a variety of applications. The function of the respective I/O channel is determined solely by connecting an actuator or sensor.

Upon set-up, the Block IO module supports the quick location of the device in the field via a flashing LED. When in operation, plain-text messages are displayed for different types of error in the diagnostics tool following a Profinet diagnostics alert. By integrating a three-port switch, it is possible to connect additional Profinet devices via the second RJ45 socket on the module. This way, not all the ports on the structural elements have to be used, and it allows for the set-up of linear topologies and ring redundancy as well as a link-down diagnosis.

Thanks to their flat design with a height of just 55 mm, the Block IO modules are suitable for use in particularly small terminal boxes. The uninterrupted communication with the modular inline system enables the user to implement a variety of different signals with one single I/O system.
