Vega, leading manufacturer of level sensors, has recently brought out a new high temperature, bulk solids level switch, in the plics (plug-in concepts) version. Plics is a modular system that allows for quick set-up and uncomplicated connection. It offers an unlimited selection of a combination of sensor type, process connection, electronics and housing.
The new Vegacap 67 capacitance switch can be used in applications where hot bulk solids reach temperatures of 300°C. The probe is available in either rod or cable version, depending on the application. With the cable version, the switch can reach further down to the level of the product, and is also flexible enough not to be damaged by product accidentally bumping against it.
These sensors have been successfully installed in brick manufacturing applications where the level of hot clinker bricks has to be monitored. Other applications would include any heated solid material that needs to be controlled from the mining, pharmaceutical or manufacturing processes.
