The MTL Megablocks are now available in two, four, eight, 10 and 12-drop versions. The range provides versions for installation in all hazardous areas with certification that covers all hazardous area protection techniques. Multiple Megablocks are easily wired to one another to allow larger segments to be constructed.
A terminator is required at either end of the fieldbus trunk to prevent signal reflection on the Fieldbus segment. Usually one terminator is in the power conditioner and the other is in wiring components at the other end of the fieldbus trunk using either a Megablock with integral terminator or Megablocks with separate Megablock Terminator. Many fieldbus users like to have a fixed terminator as this reduces the risk of errors in system set-up or during operation from a terminator switch being in the wrong position.
The 2-drop Megablock is suitable for the bus with spurs topology and the 10 or 12-drop Megablocks with integral terminator are ideal for a star or chicken foot topology, where several transmitters are connected at a single field junction box. The Megablocks are good for both retrofit and Greenfield installations.
