ATEX approved IS vibration sensors

November 2005 Sensors & Transducers

Monitran has introduced a new family of intrinsically safe vibration sensors that meet with the latest approval for ATEX Group I and II. This series is called the MTN/1100I series, and it offers a wide choice of models to suit a variety of applications throughout industry, in particular oil, petrochemical, gas, mining and other hazardous zone areas.

One of the new designs offers a side entry connector or cable together with low profile housing for fitting into those awkward places where space is limited. This series has many features, which many engineers have requested.

The new range allows engineers to monitor vibration levels of pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors, motors, drilling rigs and all types of rotating machinery, which are in potentially explosive operating conditions. This covers environments of inflammable gases, fumes, chemicals, powders, dust etc, which are found in many industries.

Each unit has full ATEX and Eex certification, and like most of Monitran's sensors, they are robustly constructed throughout in stainless steel, welded and sealed to IP67 ensuring that the sensors offer reliability, optimum performance and long service in tough operating conditions.

Depending on the chosen model, frequency responses of 2 Hz to 10 kHz are available, with operating temperature ranges covering a maximum of -55 to 90°C. There are many other options available for these models.
