Power supply units now have UL approval
November 2005
Electrical Power & Protection
PULS, a manufacturer of switched-mode DIN-rail mount power supplies, has obtained UL approval for almost all of its MiniLine family for use in Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations in accordance with UL1604.
The National Electrical Code (NEC) is the North American standard that specifies the safety requirements for electrical installations. Devices that are used in hazardous locations are subject to special requirements, as defined in Article 500 of the NEC. Nearly all the devices from the MiniLine family, including the MLY02.100 decoupling module, are approved for Class I Division 2 Hazardous Location. This means that they can be used in hazardous locations where accidents or abnormal operation might lead to the release of flammable gases, vapours or liquids.
Worldwide availability means that the devices can be delivered and used anywhere in the world without difficulty. All the MiniLine devices deliver their full output power at ambient temperatures from -10 to +60°C; with a small derating factor of 1,5 W/°C allowed up to +70°C. The additional current reserve with efficiency up to 90% means that failure rate is low (long MTBF) and that service life is particularly long.
