ISO9001/2000 for Spero

November 2005 News

The top management at the Spero Group decided to tackle the bull by the horns when they announced the ISO9001/2000 certification project. Top management made this decision to establish a quality management system and continually improve its effectiveness and maintain international quality standards. Several months and endless man hours of preparations, in depth training as well as fun like competitions within the company resulted with accreditation on 6 May 2005. The certification of ISO9001/2000 is a well deserved award and an achievement of a goal.

The company aims to enhance customer satisfaction, offer quality products and render services which meet their customer's expectations. All staff have a very high understanding of the ISO9001-2000 and its requirements. Since the implementation, it is a daily way of living at Spero, all personnel are geared to maintain the integrity of the ISO system with traceability of all documentation, and keep our customers happy! It is not only a framed certificate.

Spero Group operates out of its custom-built premises in the Highveld Techno Park in Centurion, which it occupied in 1998. This location, adjacent to the major highway network in Gauteng allows it to most conveniently service its major customer base in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West Province and the Free State, the PWV area and all the city authorities all over the country.

While the company has significantly grown its engineering expertise, this resource has now been focused on its own new product developments such as the LED Illumination product range for weighing bridges, rescue bays, an Led utility light, including in the range Loco, Spot, Beacon, Flash and Signal-LED's. The range has various applications for the mining and industry sector.

Company highlights for 2005

In a recent joint venture the company has formed a business alliance with the company Zeroblaze, a newly established local company, with a unique product range for automatic/manual fire suppression systems as well as explosive suppression systems. These systems offer an ultra fast response time to stop a gas explosion within 10 ms seconds after its inception. In July 2005 - another business alliance with ATiS Image (French) company as the sole agents for their spectral passive infrared monitor (SPIM) - gas monitoring over a distance of 3-5 km - and revealing the source of the gas. August 2005 saw a business alliance with Hyundai machine and engines for the distribution in South Africa. In August 2005 Spero exhibited in China - highlighting its SL2000 telemetry and fire detection system, with significant interest from the Chinese mining industry.
