Personnel blowoff in a paint booth

Maintaining strict cleanliness in an auto paint booth is essential. However, airborne dust from the clothing of the workers entering the booth can settle on parts to be sprayed. These tiny imperfections, magnified after painting, result in unacceptably high rejection levels.

The solution: The entrance to the paint booth is surrounded with a series of Exair model 111036 914 mm Super Air Knives. This 'ionised air shower' neutralises the static charge on the workers clothing and directs the dust to a floor vent. Paint booth contamination and finish related rejections were reduced dramatically.

The ability of the ionised air to 'reach out and touch someone' was the key to success in this application. The Exair Super Ion Air Knife uses a small amount of compressed air to deliver a high volume flow of surrounding air to a charged surface. These devices can effectively eliminate static, and the contaminant it attracts, at distances up to 6,5 m.
