Baumer Electric has repackaged the magnetised rotor and sensor in a 58 mm hollow shaft encoder housing. Called the EcoMag, this incremental encoder is rugged and economical, based on proven magnetic technology. This device is capable of withstanding 30 g vibration and 100 g shock, because the impulse disc and the associated optical transmitter and receiver had been dispensed with. As a comparison, optical encoders typically achieve 10 g vibration and 50 g shock. One of the most beneficial advantages of the EcoMag is the 58 mm encoder case with 12 mm hollow shaft and clamping ring. This allows for compact and economical installations.
