Sensors detect glass and transparent plastic

In the past, the detection of transparent material required complicated adjustment of the sensor to the application. IFM Electronic's new system consists of a retro-reflective sensor with polarisation filter and a very fine prismatic reflector. Being a plug-and-play system it can be instantly set up to detect PET materials and glass objects.
With high protection ratings of IP68 and IP69 K, the OJ5085 sensors provide total ingress resistance, even in applications subject to frequent cleaning processes as those found in the food industry. All materials used, such as ABS housings and glass lenses, are particularly suited for these environmental conditions. The sensors can attain a switching frequency of more than 2 kHz making them suitable for fast processes. They are Ecolab certified and operate with a visible red light that facilitates alignment during commissioning.
