Compact and simple to operate, the Metrix model 5500 portable vibration meter from PREI Instrumentation, is CENELEC intrinsically safe certified, ATEX EEx ia I1C T3. It is suitable for engineering and maintenance personnel to monitor rotating machinery and detect excessive vibration before damage occurs.
The meter responds to velocity vibrations in the range 10 Hz to 1 kHz, and it can be operated in any position. Measurements are obtained simply by holding the probe against the vibrating surface, and the LCD indicator provides a digital reading in mm/sec. Pressing the ON button again will hold the display after the meter is removed from the machine.
A leather carrying case is provided with the unit, and a 250 mm extension probe is available as an optional extra - for measuring in places that are difficult to access.
