Shell selects strategic supplier of control equipment
June 2005
News
Yokogawa Electric reports that it has been selected by Shell Downstream Manufacturing to be a strategic supplier of distributed control systems and other process control equipment. Yokogawa's relationship with Shell dates back to 1986, when the two companies entered into a global procurement agreement. The latest agreement covers all Yokogawa process control solutions including the Centum CS 3000 integrated production control system, the ProSafe safety instrumented system, field mounted instruments, and engineering/site services.
Teruyoshi Minaki, director and executive vice president of the international business headquarters, says, "Yokogawa has provided Shell with more than 200 process control systems since 1985. Shell has rated Yokogawa's competence in such areas as product reliability, technology, main automation contractor (MAC) project execution, and global support systems, and this has been a key factor in Shell's choice of Yokogawa as a strategic supplier."
Lee Newick, general manager of contracting & procurement for Shell's Downstream Manufacturing organisation, says, "Yokogawa has provided Shell with highly reliable process control systems for the past 20 years and is helping us with our value improvement programs."
