Ultrasonic flow sensors with inline design

IFM Electronic has introduced a new range of ultrasonic flow sensors for G 3/4 and G 1 inline mounting in water applications with flow rates up to 100 l/min. The sensors provide accurate flow rate, totalising and medium temperature indication via a four-digit alphanumeric display with LEDs for unit and switch point indication.
The ultrasonic sensors are based on the transit-time difference method. Sonic pulses are propagated against and in flow direction on a defined measuring path and are detected by sonic sensors. The flow rate can be determined from the difference of the transit times in the nanosecond range. Analog, binary and pulse outputs offer various possibilities to process sensor data. Flexible programming possibilities allow the sensors to adapt to different conditions. The units are operated via a robust keypad. Housed in robust aluminium, the DC PNP/NPN sensors meet IP65 requirements, have a four-wire connection, and are short circuit, reverse polarity and overload protected.
