Wago Ethernet controllers have additional functionality, which allows controlled access to the control and configuration data.
The controllers are effectively protected against unauthorised access by means of an IP-filter function. The advantage of this method is that the IP functionality is fully retained. When the security option is switched on, only engineered nodes can communicate with the WAGO Ethernet controller. For this purpose, a list of trustworthy communication partners is stored locally, directly in the controller. Based on the IP address and port number transmitted by the client, the controller checks whether a client is included in this list. The IP-filter is configured by means of web pages in the Ethernet controller.
