Slim-design system power supply units

February 2005 Electrical Power & Protection

The Mini Power product line from Phoenix Contact is growing up: the Mini-Sys-PS power supply unit can now supply additional modules with regulated 24 V d.c. power, using optional rail-mounted bus connectors. Particularly restricted physical headroom, the shallow construction (102,5 mm) offers a notable advantage.

The system power supply especially simplifies supplying the PSI-MOS fibre-optic transmission system and 6 mm analog MCR transducers from Phoenix Contact. Even without rail-mounted bus adapters, the flat 24 V/1,5 A power supply unit is suitable for many applications. The shallow housing (12 mm flatter than similar solutions) makes the unit particularly suitable for environments with limited space.

The electronic device, which is protected against short-circuits and idling, is connected to single-phase AC networks with a nominal voltage of 100 to 240 V a.c. or to two outer conductors for DC networks with a concatenated voltage of the same value. The output voltage is limited to a maximum of 30 V d.c. in the case of malfunction. The potential-free DC-OK output and the DC-OK LED provide function monitoring. The power failure bridging time of more than 20 ms under full load offers a high degree of reliability. Ambient temperatures can be anywhere from -25 to +70°C, and a power reserve capacity of 25% is always available for temperatures up to 40°C. Triggered circuit breakers react reliably to high levels of short-circuit current.
