Having filled the position of chief executive officer of Siemens Southern Africa for 10 years, Dr Klaus Döring will hand over his responsibilities to Pete da Silva on 1 March 2005. Dr Döring will remain on the Board of Siemens as non-executive deputy chairman.
During his tenure as chief executive officer, Dr Döring was also president of the South African German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a member of president Mbeki's Big Business Working Group, the SA Foundation and the Business Trust, and will continue to perform some of these duties.
Pete da Silva joined Siemens in 1977, and became chief operating officer of Siemens Telecommunications in 1988, and was later appointed chief executive officer in 2002. Following his new appointment, Dr Jan Mrosik will fill the position of chief executive officer of Siemens Telecommunications.
