Siemens software scales with Simple Energy EV development

Siemens Digital Industries Software and Simple Energy, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, have expanded the adoption of Siemens’ cloud-based software solutions to support advanced product engineering and digital transformation as the company scales its EV portfolio.

Simple Energy is using an expanded set of solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, including Teamcenter X software for product lifecycle management, and Designcenter X software for advanced vehicle engineering. The company is also using Teamcenter X advanced product configurator capabilities to manage complex vehicle variants and enterprise-level bills of materials. This integrated digital environment enables Simple Energy to improve collaboration across engineering teams while maintaining flexibility and cost efficiency.

“As our products scale in complexity, we are strengthening the systems behind how we build them,” says Kiran Poojary, chief technology officer at Simple Energy. “With Teamcenter X and Designcenter X, we are able to manage complex variants and large assemblies with greater speed and control, enabling us to accelerate development without compromising agility.”

“Simple Energy’s expansion of its Siemens software footprint demonstrates how customers can scale their digital foundation as product complexity increases,” says Matthew Thomas, vice president and managing director for India at Siemens Digital Industries Software. “Through close collaboration, we are supporting Simple Energy with a fully integrated vehicle engineering and lifecycle management digital thread that helps accelerate innovation and support its growth targets.”

Simple Energy initially adopted Teamcenter X to establish a centralised product data management backbone and improve collaboration across engineering functions. As its electric vehicle programmes matured, the company expanded its use of Siemens’ software to support enterprise bill of materials management and variant configuration, including a ‘150% BOM approach’. By providing a master, configurable bill of materials that includes all possible components, options and variants for a product family, Teamcenter X helps Simple Energy configure specific bills of materials for individual customer orders, enabling efficient management of multiple vehicle variants.

To address increasing design and assembly complexity, Simple Energy has also replaced its legacy 3D CAD capabilities with Siemens’ Designcenter X, which integrates with Teamcenter X. The solution supports advanced surface design, large assembly performance, and 3D electrical routing and harness design, helping engineering teams work more efficiently as product complexity increases. Siemens’ value-based licensing model enables Simple Energy to scale its software use in line with business growth.
