Leading German level measurement manufacturer, VEGA, has completed its development programme, converting its full range of sensors to the plics (plug in concepts) system. The last phase of this development sees the capacitive and admittance level switch range, Vegacap 60, now sharing the plics system.
Plics allows for quick mounting, fast set-up and low life-long costs. The system standardises the measuring principles into one simple, modular approach. The system also has universal displays, communication protocols, approvals, asset management tools, fittings and electronic inserts.
The advantage of using a capacitive sensor is that it has no moving parts and is totally maintenance-free. The rod or probe of the sensor experiences changes in capacitance when it is in contact with the product. Partly insulated probes are a suitable solution for applications in solids and non-conductive liquids, while conductive liquids and solids are measured with fully insulated versions. Coating options of PE, PA or PTFE make the Vegacap 60 sensors suitable even for applications in problematic products like fly ash, aggregates, resin or concentrated caustic.
Different versions are available for ATEX Ex approved areas (for gas and dust), and for operating temperatures up to 200°C and pressures up to 6,4 MPa (64 bar). Rod, cable and flush types are also available. The new Vegacap 60 range continues to deliver precision measurement, even in the most difficult applications.
