Emerson Process Management's valve automation division is offering SIL-PAC, a final control solution as part of a safety-instrumented system (SIS), designed to help protect against process upsets or failures. SIL-PAC combines a complete hardware package for safety integrity level (SIL) suitability that consists of field-proven Bettis scotch yoke valve actuators, Fisher's Fieldvue digital valve controller, various options, and a quarter-turn valve that meets the user's requirements (and brand preference if applicable).
SIL-PAC is packaged and tested by Bettis and issued with a certificate of SIL suitability, embracing such standards as IEC 61508/61511, ANSI/ISA SP84 and OSHA CFR 1910,119. The complete, single-sourced package lowers acquisition costs, reduces labour requirements, increases operating flexibility and improves cost of ownership.
Bettis actuators are suitable for SIL3 applications, are PED97/23/EC and ATEX certified and are water ingress certified to IP 66/67M. Fisher's TÜV-certified controller is designated for SIL 3 use, can allow for on-line partial stroke testing of the valve and provide for predictive diagnostics. The combination, with optional components including local test switch, solenoids, and local shutdown, offers a fully-documented final control solution for SIL 1, 2 or 3 applications.
