Industrial light curtain

December 2004 Sensors & Transducers

The SG 10 light curtain from Telco has been designed to fill a gap in the light curtain range and is a 'by-product' of the SG 1.

Its main features are:

10 m range, potted IP 65 (vibration proof), output NPN/PNP NO/NC, self-contained, high sunlight immunity, easy alignment, 12-36 V d.c. supply voltage, 2 m housing length.

The SG 10 is intended to meet a demand from the industrial market for a high performance, strong and reliable light curtain: one that works equally well in outdoor applications as in interior ones; one that can withstand high degrees of contamination, dirt, dust and humidity. A light curtain where alignment is not critical and that can withstand high levels of vibration.

Telco's new industrial light curtain SG 10 is believed to have the most dense beam pattern on the market. It is available either as a 20-channel unit (94 beams) or as a 40-channel unit (194 beams).

The SG 10 also has a high light immunity making it suitable in applications where the detections are subjected to direct sunlight and high levels of reflections.

The system is a self-contained unit that does not require a separate amplifier or controller box. In cases where 115 or 230 V a.c. supply is required, the SGC 1 controller may be used in conjunction with the SG 10.

Even at maximum range, the SG 10 has no alignment problems, making it installer friendly.

Housed in Telco's 2 m high, slimline profile the product offers the sturdiness required for industrial applications.

Areas for application would include:

Gates, wide doors, exterior applications, humid, interior applications such as slaughter houses, breweries and train platforms.
