Kral Volumeters measure liquid flow over a broad range of viscosities, from low-viscosity liquids like petrol, acids and alkalis to high-viscosity liquids such as printing inks, grease and bitumen. Kral measuring equipment is used in applications in many areas of engineering, including fuel engineering, hydraulics, test-beds, mixing and dosing technology, chemical industry and F&B.

The instruments are accurate to within 0,1% of rate over a wide flow and viscosity range and reproducibility is within ±0,01%. The long working life and stability over time demonstrate that robustness and precision are not mutually exclusive. The smooth spindle movement means that the Kral Volumeter operates silently, with virtually zero mechanical stress within the meter. This also results in gentle fluid handling.

The measuring chamber consists of two screw spindles. These spindles continually divide the fluid in a precision made closed measuring chamber - nothing escapes. The precise measured value is calculated from the known measuring-chamber volume and the spindle rotation speed. The meter measures directly in the fluid stream. The fluid flow drives the spindles and is not disrupted by the meter. A sensor measures the spindle rotation. Each pulse from the sensor presents a precisely calibrated volume, so by counting the rotation of the spindles, the flow is measured without the need of complex calculations. Additional sources of error are avoided. The measuring principle is understandable and easy to check. Mecosa is the sole agent for Kral in South Africa.
