INSITE to bring international IST experts to our shores

October 2004 News

INSITE - the International Science Innovation & Technology Exhibition - which will take place at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, between 1-3 November 2004, may be a local exhibition but it has global scope.

Themed around 'Sustainable development, innovation, science and technology - the challenges ahead', and significantly funded by the Department of Science & Technology, the 3-day event is bringing international governments and research institutions, science and technology institutions, entrepreneurs, funding agencies, and the United Nations family of science and technology related organisations, as well as international companies, to South Africa's shores to participate in the local exhibition.

As organisers, Exhibitions for Africa, work towards creating a forum that will meet the Department's aims of providing an international marketplace for Innovation, Science and Technology (IST) in the context of long-term sustainability; one that will promote IST partnerships for global sustainable development; and one that will enable IST experts from across the globe to identify joint objectives, activities and initiatives, their targets now appear well within their sites.

Foreign countries signed up to participate in the INSITE exhibition include: Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Finland, the United States of America, China, Germany, France, Iran, Serbia, and Botswana.

Providing an insight into what South Africa has achieved, or is achieving, within the fields of IST, a number of local companies have also already committed to showcasing their latest products, projects, services, solutions and developments alongside our own Department of Science & Technology. Demonstrating the variety of attention that the INSITE exhibition is attracting, these companies include: Telkom; the Medical Research Council; Cape Bio; Eskom; National Research Foundation; Merck; Geophysicists; Net 1; and Sagem amongst others.
