The newly developed Laserscale, model BL55, is claimed to be the fastest high-resolution scale on the market today. The new design provides a combination of resolution, accuracy and speed that satisfies the highest requirements of machine tool and measuring machine manufacturers.
The Laserscale interferometer measuring principle with 1,6 µm grating can achieve a response speed up to 3 m/sec. The resulting analog sine wave output has a signal period of 0,4 µm. The scales are also available with A/B phase signal (RS422) output with resolutions of 10, 50 and 100 nm. The 50 and 100 nm resolution scales are capable of speeds of 1 m and 2 m/sec respectively. Higher resolutions with increments as low as 1 nm are available on request.
The presence of interpolation error is almost eliminated due to the extremely small signal period of 0,4 µm. This is a particularly important feature in the manufacturing process of high precision surfaces - and in the accurate control of linear motors. The scale is available in three versions:
* BL55-RU: Shielded type with reference point.
* BL55-NE: Compact open type without reference point.
* BL55-RE: Open type with reference point.
