IFM Electronic's new PNI range of electronic pressure sensors offers a new means of signal evaluation. Two freely configurable switching outputs can be continuously and automatically adjusted using a 4-20 mA or 0-10 V analog input signal. Their corresponding display indicates either input/output pressure or differential pressure.
The switches are suitable for automatic switch point adjustment. It is a significant advantage if the switch point can be adjusted electronically in response to changes in the valve position. Clamping pressure remains within a variable acceptable range, and if the pressure is outside the preset window, the switched output is de-energised. The acceptable range is varied using an external analog signal. By evaluating the analog signal, the sensor switches if the set differential pressure is too high or too low. Housed in stainless steel, the sensors meet IP67 requirements, and connection is via an M12 connector with eight-pole, gold plated contacts. The pressure sensors have a four-digit LED display and pressure indication is given in bar, psi and MPa.
Typical applications include monitoring filters or balancing liquids in tanks. Since the reference measurement is an electrical signal, rather than a physical variable, it is easy to monitor differential pressure between remote locations.
