Versatile fibre-fed optical sensors

Sensors & Transducers
As diffuse reflective sensors or light barriers for tight, difficult to access places, the Wenglor Type DX, from ASSTech Process Electronics & Instrumentation, counts objects made from a wide range of materials, inspects small parts, drill holes, gaps and T slots, and recognises broken wires or tolerances for miniature parts.
New fibre-optics and versatile sensor technology assure flexible use of the Wenglor DX series. Plastic fibre-optics can be adapted to individual requirements and are available in lengths of up to 50 m.
Users can cut optical fibre to any desired length with the included cutting tool. A working range of 40 to 400 mm is achieved with the standard length of 2 m for the highly flexible plastic fibre-optics. A fibre diameter of 0,5 mm combined with an increased sensor switching frequency of 2 kHz assures high accuracy. Sensing distance is infinitely adjustable and can be easily adapted to a wide range of applications by means of either the newly developed pushbutton potentiometer or the teach-in key. The integrated teach-in technology includes four different teach-in modes for various types of applications.
Incorrectly connected or damaged fibre optics, as well as exceeded working ranges, are indicated by a separate contamination warning output before errors occur, thus avoiding unnecessary downtime.
