Process engineering in the fast lane 2004
June 2004
News
This successful annual event has become a standard item on the diary of process and control engineers, since it was first presented in 2000. Following the success of this event in the past, it is intended to again host a concentrated, information-intensive seminar on the above topic.
Focus:
Computer-based tools for synthesis, process modelling, design, control system design and optimisation of processes have gradually become more and more integrated and inter-dependent. This, as well as the integration of off-line design tools with on-line operational aids has essentially become state-of-the art. In addition, developments in the area of information technology (IT) have enabled exciting communication possibilities. Lately, plant-wide control as well as maintenance planning and scheduling, has become integrated into the well-known control pyramid.
The important purpose of the seminar is to provide attendees with enough information on this important field to bring them up-to-date with the different aspects of computer-aided tools in the various areas of process engineering, how these tools are integrated into day-to-day plant operations and to enable them to evaluate the various available alternatives on an objective basis. At the same time, vendors and suppliers are provided the opportunity to present an interested and committed audience with the latest information concerning their products and their views/plans in a neutral environment.
Presenters from industry (ie, users) will be presenting their experiences with modern design/modelling tools on Thursday 24 June. Each presentation will be limited to 35 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions from the audience. Following the seminar day on Thursday 24 June, the second day of the event, Friday 25 June is devoted to workshops and/or hands-on tutorials.
