Level and overfill protection for building aggregate storage

The building and construction industry across the country uses aggregates such as gravel, sand and cement in large quantities on a daily basis. These aggregates are stored in silos, either separately or in multicompartment silos, from where they are dispensed for the manufacturing of concrete. Whether the concrete manufacturing facilities are mobile or stationary, the level properties of the aggregates have to be measured and controlled.
This is where level instrumentation manufacturer, Vega, can supply a suitable measurement solution. During filling, a great deal of dust is generated and the product often ends up in a cone shape. The Vegaflex 61 and 62, for lightweight and heavyweight solids respectively, provide a solution for level measurement in almost all multiple chamber silos. Using the measuring principle of the guided microwave, the Vegaflex is supplied pre-configured, so that set-up needs no adjustment and is primarily the connection of the sensor. The measured value is not affected by changes or fluctuations in product quality, dust generation or the shape of the product cone.
Additional protection from overfilling can be offered by the Vegacap 63, which is an adjustment-free capacitive compact level switch with a cable electrode. It is more rugged than the vibrating level switch and is not affected by build-up or condensation.
