Load measuring pins
December 2003
Sensors & Transducers
Magtrol load measuring pins are used to measure load and force and provide overload protection. The pins, which incorporate strain gauges, are mounted into machines in place of normal shafts thus allowing a signal proportional to load to be produced. Applications as diverse as cranes and lifting devices, machines, marine, tankers, offshore oil platforms, nuclear, aviation, chemical, cable cars, towing, elevators, ski and chair lifts are catered for together with works designed systems for special requirements.
Standard load ranges are from 2,5 to 1250 kN (0,25 to 125 tons) with special designs up to 2500 kN. Standard outputs are from 0,5-1,8 mV/V, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 10 V with overload and rupture capability of 150% and 350 to 700% respectively, according to model. Where functions such as OK, level detection, self-test, alarm and line monitoring are required; Magtrol load pins are used in conjunction with Magtrol LMU series load monitoring units.
