Application-specific surge arresters

December 2003 Electrical Power & Protection

Surge Technology's DEHNguard range of single-pole and multipole lightning surge arresters meet Class 2 requirements and are designed to be application-specific in low voltage applications. The devices provide a fast response and are designed with thermal dynamic visual disconnection mechanisms with optional remote contacts should the units be over-stressed.

Suitable for all power applications from 75 to 600 V a.c. the heavy-duty devices are SABS approved, meet IP 20 requirements and can operate in a temperature range from -40 to +80°C. The DEHNguard range is DIN-rail mounted and can withstand surge currents of 40 kA (8/20). Typical applications include industrial, commercial and domestic installations, as well as for use in sub-distribution boards.
