Sensors for use in hazardous dust areas

A new range of capacitive proximity switches has been introduced by IFM Electronic for use in zone 22, non-conductive dust areas. In accordance with ATEX, the sensors are ideal for use in mills and silos and meet the highest demands on functional safety, ensuring machine uptime and minimising maintenance.
All sensors operate with a patented circuit concept, which makes the units immune to electromagnetic interference such as switched-mode power supplies, frequency inverters or stepper-motor controllers. The units have a sensing range up to 15 mm adjustable via a potentiometer and operate in a 10 to 30 V d.c. or 20 to 250 V a.c./d.c. range.
Special fixtures are no longer necessary as mounting accessories for almost all applications are available including mounting adapters in different materials, lock nuts and protective covers. The units have a M30 design and may be straight or angle mounted or via a cable gland.
