Temperature Controls acquires Lufft agency

November 2003 News

Temperature Controls has recently acquired the sole agency in South Africa for a German Company in Fellbach. Lufft is a producer of electronic measurement systems for climate and environmental measurement technique. The Lufft OPUS10 is a versatile new product that has been designed to serve as a temperature and humidity data-gathering device with computer interface.

This portable, compact instrument can be left in any area to record readings over programmable intervals and periods of time, or it can be wall-mounted. The large LCD always displays the current readings and the time, as well as an indication of alarm conditions. Up to 120 000 readings can be stored. OPUS10 is shipped with Windows-compatible Smartgraph software to allow the installation on any PC. The readings are downloaded via RS232 cable to the program for the generation of graphs and tables, and for data analysis and storage. There are two OPUS10 models available. The one model has internal sensors and the other one has external sensors and optional extension cables.

The OPUS200 intelligent data logger caps Lufft's product range for measurement data collection. The hardware is based on the 'risk sharing technology', ie, the complete system consists of independent 2-channel-modules that communicate with one another via a CAN-Bus. Each module has its own microprocessor and its realtime clock unit which is synchronised via databus) and it guarantees a reliable performance and the best security against power breakdown. Isolated modules are also an available option. Low power consumption means that an OPUS200 system can also be operated using solar energy.

The universal digital and analog inputs allow the OPUS200 to measure current, voltage, frequency and pulses as well as to operate with temperature probes like PT100, PT1000 and any kind of thermo-elements. Each module is equipped with an RS232 interface, which enables the connection to an intelligent road sensor. The measurement and storing interval can be configured separately for each channel; up to 10 measurement values per second can be collected. Data is transmitted via RS232, GSM, or phone.

The SmartControl evaluation software for Windows allows nearly every visualisation function conceivable. The user can configure his own workstation according to his needs. Extra calculations can be added if needed.

The OPUS200/300 makes everything possible: the combination with any type of sensors as well as the collection of a lot of various parameters. This high-precise 24-bit-system offers the user a very high and flexible visualisation software which allows online and offline applications. Old paper documents are now being replaced with digital data records.
