IFM Electronic has introduced an AS-interface slave integrated analog pressure sensor for easy networking and remote diagnosis in hydraulic applications. The PPA020 pressure sensor is able to withstand more than 100-million pressure cycles providing stable detection of measured values without any wear or tear.
Advantages of the AS-i connection ensure that no more complex programming of special function blocks to control and handle the analog protocol is necessary. For masters according to the specification 2.1, the pressure sensor is automatically detected as an analog slave on the basis of the AS-i profile. Master and slave automatically start to exchange data. LEDs are able to display 'correct functioning', 'no exchange of data' and 'internal sensor fault' on site. Even an analog value outside the permissible range of values is detected immediately.
With a measuring range of up to 40 MPa (400 bar), the pressure sensor is housed in stainless steel and meets IP 67 requirements. Protection is provided against unauthorised access, shock and vibration.
