New temperature monitoring relays for additional protection

May 2003 Temperature Measurement

The Simirel 3RS1042 and 3RS1142 temperature monitoring relays from Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) now come equipped with more functions and additional thermocouples. The relays are certified in accordance with DIN 3440 and available in screw-connection and spring-loaded versions. Another advantage is easy parameter assignment and commissioning without software tools for intuitive operation. All parameters and the trip state of the devices are retained in the event the control supply voltage fails.

The protection level for plants, the processed material and personnel has been increased even further: for example, with expanded measuring ranges up to a maximum of 1350°C or password protection against unauthorised modification of the limit temperature for Type K thermocouples. Three additional thermocouples may be connected to the 3RS1042 and 3RS1142 temperature monitoring relays: Type S and Type R up to 1750°C as well as Type B, up to 1800°C. These thermocouples act as sensors and offer additional protection.
