The Johannesburg SAIMC branch, held its first meeting on 12 February at the Rivonia country club to map out the calendar for the year as well as enjoy a fun filled social evening;
Quizmaster Eric Carter gave the opportunity for a few lucky people to walk away with R1000 cash at the end of the evening, by answering a few ‘simple’ questions related to our industry, as well as the more difficult general knowledge questions, based on the popular game show ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire?’ We were not able to source a million Rand, so we played ‘Who wants to be a Thousandaire?’ Well done to the lucky winners on the evening.

Site visit
During March, the branch conducted a site visit to Alien Systems Technology (AST). AST recently opened the first production facility in Africa to fill compressed gas fire suppression cylinders up to 100 litre capacity. In addition, AST now also manufactures cylinders with burst testing facilities to 1000 bar and automated Helium leak detection.
