The Durban branch October Technology Evening was kindly sponsored by Emerson and Aveng Grinaker-LTA Automation and Control Solutions. Marius du Plessis, regional sales manager for the Rosemount Measurement business unit for Africa at Emerson Process Management presented on ERS – electronic remote seals.
Chairman John Owen Ellis (l) thanks Marius after the presentation.
Marius started his presentation by pointing out that the 3051S ERS System is a flexible, 2-wire HART architecture that calculates differential pressure (DP) electronically, using two pressure sensors. The pressure sensors are linked together with an electrical cable and synchronised to create a single 3051S ERS system. With more than 24 years’ experience in the automation and control industry, Marius was more than qualified to explain to us the benefits of these seals – including ease of installation, reduced inventory and improved response time. Judging by the questions afterwards he really sparked some interest and gave food for thought.
