The Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) is used to test the integrity of fibre-optic cables. It verifies splice loss, measures length and finds faults. The OTDR is also commonly used to create a picture of fibre optic cable when it is newly installed. AFL has added the M210e Enterprise to the M series OTDR family, replacing the M210 and offering improved performance and value.
The M210e is a rugged, hand-held, lightweight OTDR featuring a dynamic range of up to 34 dB and 16 hours of battery run time. It includes AFL’s industry leading TruEvent event detection technology. TruEvent is the product of extensive research into the elements that cause optical loss in a network – connectors, splices and macro/microbends. It provides an unmatched level of accuracy and reliability for superior performance.
The M210e is suited for testing, troubleshooting and documenting multimode and single-mode networks. An intuitive user interface, Touch and Test simplifies the user experience and reduces training time and testing errors, enabling even novices to get the job done accurately.
Other features of the M210e Enterprise include Test and Troubleshoot multimode and single-mode fibre networks; Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing and certification, and enterprise network, data centre and LAN/WAN. It can also document and create standards-compliant acceptance reports using TRM 2.0 companion PC software.
