The Q4X laser distance sensor from Banner Engineering is now available with dual discrete outputs and IO-Link configuration. Dual discrete outputs enable the Q4X to solve challenging fill level, high/low monitoring or dancer arms applications, while IO-Link allows for remote configuration, sensor backup and easier preventative maintenance.
The new sensor offers enhanced performance features, including window size and offset control for easier setup of difficult applications, a totaliser reduces PLC programming for high-speed counting and the pulse frequency modulation (PFM) output offers an alternative to analog. Additionally, the IO-Link point-to-point serial communication protocol allows complete remote accessibility to device and event data and more precise, digital data transmission.
“We are continually striving to enhance the Q4X sensor to ensure our customers are equipped with a powerful solution for their most difficult distance-based sensing applications,” said Brad Ragozzino, technical marketing engineer, Banner Engineering. “The added capabilities of dual discrete outputs and IO-Link enable our customers to solve even more applications with just one single sensor, making it the ultimate problem solver.”
With the capability to detect height changes as small as 0,5 mm and sense up to 300 mm, the Q4X can solve distance-based applications regardless of target surface reflectivity, including black foam on black plastic, black rubber in front of metal, multicolour packaging and targets of all colours. It is also optimal for clear object detection and error-proofing applications.
Offering a simplified user experience, the Q4X includes a bright readout on a highly visible, angled four-digit display that is easily viewed from multiple vantage points. The device also offers intuitive user setup utilising three tactile push-buttons conveniently located below the display.
The Q4X is constructed with robust housing rated to IP67, IP68 or IP69K; allowing use in wet and high-pressure washdown environments, durable FDA-grade stainless steel resists mechanical impact, over tightening, extreme vibration and aggressive cleaning procedures.
