Automatic lubrication system

May 2015 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

SKF’s System 24 automatic lubricators provide a reliable, user friendly and cost effective solution for the continuous supply of quality lubricant to plant machinery components. The increased reliability and accuracy of automatic compared to manual lubrication results in important and substantial cost saving benefits to the end-user.

The lubricators allow a large number of lubrication points to be covered with premium quality SKF lubricant, which is available in two different volumes, 125 ml and 60 ml. “The comprehensive SKF DialSet computer program ensures correctly measured application, which saves on lubricant and prevents under- or over-lubrication,” explains SKF business development manager reliability systems, Eddie Martens. “This reduces the risk of equipment failure and costly unplanned downtime and extends equipment life. In addition to a reduction in maintenance costs, uptime and productivity are improved as production does not need to be halted to apply lubricant.” The dispensing function and lubricant levels are easily checked through the transparent container.

The SKF DialSet computer program, iOS and Android apps allow quick and easy determination of the correct SKF System 24 settings for each application. The System 24 can be temporarily deactivated when machinery is not running, for example during scheduled maintenance. The ergonomic and easy to read dial enables the dispense rate to be set by hand over a user-selectable time period of one to twelve months, without the need for special tools. The system is also easy and inexpensive to install as no special tool is required. The automatic lubrication is particularly suited to any application subject to high levels of contamination as well as demanding, hard to reach, remote or hazardous areas. The batteries can be easily removed after use, allowing the unit to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. The lubricators are ATEX certified.
