BMG announces new CEO at 40 year anniversary expo

November 2014 News

BMG’s industrial productivity exhibition, which was held at BMG Park recently, attracted more than 2000 visitors over the two day event.

“The expo focused on productivity and how we integrate our extensive product range and technical services into tangible operational efficiencies,” says Dave Russell, director, BMG. “Active demonstrations took place during the expo that presented techniques and product features, specifically intended to transfer knowledge and skills on reliability centred maintenance.”

Highlights of the event included the announcement of BMG’s new CEO, Byron Nichles, and the celebration of the company’s 40th anniversary milestone. Charles Walters, BMG’s CEO for the past eight years, has been appointed CEO of Invicta Holdings.

BMG, which has grown dramatically from a single Bearing Man shop, established in Durban in 1974, now has over 120 outlets throughout southern Africa and continues to expand on the continent. The company boasts 10 specialist divisions, with advanced technical skills to support and depth of experience to maximise the efficiency and profitability for every customer.

More positive news for BMG is the expansion of its distribution and engineering facilities in Droste Park, Johannesburg, which currently carries about R400-million worth of stock. This development is necessary for it to continue to provide high levels of delivery service in line with substantial growth of the business.

Through its critical focus on the entire production process, BMG’s extensive range of quality branded components, engineering solutions and technical services, optimises productivity and enhances process plant operating reliability.

Diverse industries now have access to all critical production-efficient products and services from one supplier. This integrated approach means that lower production costs and higher production efficiencies are within reach of South African industry, which is desperately in need of distinct competitive advantages.

Growth at BMG has been both organic and through strategic acquisitions, which include the purchase of OMSA, leaders in valves, instrumentation, filtration and lubrication products and Man-Dirk, key players in the local tools and equipment sector. The BMG range of pneumatic and hydraulic filtration products and systems now includes Parker motion and control technologies.

BMG’s ISO 9001:2008 internationally recognised quality management system endorses the meticulous standards and procedures that have been developed and entrenched throughout the Group. Quality is of paramount importance and the procedures and instructions that have been developed and entrenched, ensure that the quality of all products and services meet local and global specifications and exceed customers’ expectations.
