Electrical Power & Protection

Improved safety for maintenance electricians

April 2014 Electrical Power & Protection

Nowadays it is a requirement for technical staff to wear protective clothing when working on live motor control centres where they are required to open cubicle doors for any reason. The NewCode motor protection and control relay is capable of communicating by means of infrared and can store the last 40 fault records and 1400 events. This means it is often unnecessary to open a cubicle door to establish the reason for a circuit breaker trip. The relay settings can also be configured externally. These features together contribute to a decrease in risk for maintenance technicians working on live motor control centres.
