Endress+Hauser’s digital temperature head transmitters

March 2014 Temperature Measurement

Since the launch of the first Endress+Hauser iTEMP digital temperature head transmitter in 2000, more than one million devices have been sold across a range of industries. This success is set to continue with the launch of a new generation of iTEMP transmitters and components – the iTEMP TMT82 temperature head transmitter with HART

Increased process safety

Over the years the iTEMP portfolio has been continuously improved and developed with increased functionality and housing options allowing the range to meet evolving industry requirements.

The latest innovation comes with the launch of the iTEMP TMT82 4-20 mA HART temperature transmitter, which minimises risk in critical applications through the introduction of a second sensor input. This can be used as a hot sensor back up, so that if one sensor input fails the device automatically switches to the second. It can also be used to measure differential or average temperatures and even drift detection between two elements.

The HART signal opens up a wealth of additional diagnostic functionality over standard 4-20 mA devices, including sensor open or short circuit alerts, drift detection and sensor corrosion warnings. The device will automatically send a signal to the control system to inform of the error and will indicate a possible cause and suggest remedies.

Intelligent display

For continuous measurement and diagnostics display plus additional service features, simply add the TID10 display. This plug-on unit shows both the actual measured value as well as the measurement point identification information. On attachment, it runs a start-up in which various device information and settings are shown (sensor type, connection type, measurement range) in sequence. This simplifies the identification of the measurement point during calibration and maintenance, and, in the event of an alarm, an error message will appear on the display.

When used with the range of display heads, the TMT82 temperature transmitter with TID10 process display upgrades standard temperature assemblies for maximum data availability at minimum expenditure.
