Telco Sensors’ multifunctional diffuse proximity sensor, the SMP, is an 18 mm infrared sensor that has a sensing range of 0–500 mm adjustable without the use of a reflector, or 0–8 m adjustable with the use of a reflector.
The multifunctional SMP can be used in a multitude of applications in various industries, therefore standardising on one sensor which minimises downtime. For plastic applications such as level detection of media inside coloured or transparent bottles and containers, the SMP can be used to detect when full or empty. This is a simple application for the SMP as it is very easily set-up. Some other applications in the plastic industry are counting, sorting, positioning, monitoring and inspection.
