Celesco’s PT9420 linear position sensor

August 2013 Sensors & Transducers

The PT9420 sensor from Celesco Transducers is built to operate in virtually any type of environment. This sensor is used in a wide variety of industries from material handling to water management to hydraulic cylinder positioning to crane applications.

From one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of linear and rotary position transducers, the PT9420 provides features including 2-wire 4-20 mA output signal and 3-wire 0-20 mA. It has an intrinsically safe option for hazardous areas and comes with aluminium and stainless steel housing options.

The expanded stroke range is larger than that found with many other string pots. Because it is sealed to meet NEMA 4 and IP67 standards, this cable-extension transducer will perform under difficult environmental conditions, which includes protection from dirty environments.

Optional IP68 conformance and pressure testing is available for submerged applications and the potentiometer offers a long life cycle before signal degradation starts to occur. The sensor can be installed in minutes and it works properly without perfectly parallel alignment with optional pressure testing available down to 30 metres of water for submerged applications.

“Both our standard and extended range PT9420 sensors are highly thought of in the market,” says Celesco general manager Jim Bishop. “What sets them apart is their versatility. For example we offer an all-synthetic, high strength cable for high acceleration applications and CSA certification for hazardous areas.”
