Rotating machines are particularly vulnerable to incorrect phase sequence. Three-phase motors can rotate in the wrong direction, potentially leading to physical damage or the risk of injury to personnel, yet voltage and current readings may appear normal.
It is often important to ensure that machinery does not rotate in the incorrect direction, and the inclusion of phase rotation protection within a motor protection relay makes good sense. NewElec offers a range of motor protection relays that offer this protection by measuring the incoming phase voltage and making it impossible to start the motor should the incoming phases be reversed.
Some NewElec motor protection relays do, however, permit software settings that allow the motor to start by reversing the phase measurement settings. This enhancement avoids the need for an electrician to physically reverse the phase measurement inputs of the relay.
Safety and cost-efficiency with meticulous ash management
Electrical Power & Protection
Most solid fuels produce ash and effective ash management is crucial. In South Africa, ash management ranges from sophisticated overhead storage systems and wet conveyors to manual trolley-based solutions, and AES is meticulous about how ash is handled, stored and disposed of.
