Pressure regulator with two functions

FCE Technical Services has released the PBE-L pressure build and economiser regulator, which functions as both a pressure build and an economiser relief regulator in one model. Widely used for pressure control in liquefied gas storage tanks, it has a compact, forged body and a maximum Cv of 2. The pressure build feature controls the outlet pressure while the economiser feature relieves any excess pressure in the system above set point from atmospheric to 4130 kPa.
In the pressure build portion of the regulator, gas flows out of the bottom of the tank through the regulator and then through a heat exchanger that vaporises the liquid. The vapour is piped back to the top of the tank, causing the pressure to rise. When the pressure reaches the set point of the regulator it shuts off, stopping the flow of liquid.
If the gas is not used there may be a slight over-pressure above set point in the tank due to spontaneous boil-off. The regulator has an economiser feature built into it, this relieves the excess pressure and maintains the set point. The pressure relief begins to open when outlet pressure exceeds the set point pressure by 70-170 kPa, depending on the selection of range spring.
