Powerful vision systems from Cognex

September 2012 Sensors & Transducers

Cognex recently launched its new In-Sight 7000 and In-Sight 500 smart camera vision systems; the high resolution and acquisition rates featured by these new cameras enables reliable inspection of products on even the fastest bottling and pharmaceutical production lines. Users can rely on proven In-Sight measurement, location and inspection vision tools and the flexible EasyBuilder environment to make all inspection, defect detection, guidance, alignment and measurement applications easy to set up and deploy.

In-Sight vision systems have state-of-the-art communication methods and have I/O capacity for virtually any inspection scenario. Cognex Connect offers the widest range of built-in communication protocols that interface directly with the vision system. It features built-in Ethernet, RS-232 serial and multiple discrete I/Os. The systems can communicate directly to virtually any PLC or robot controller and manage multiple smart cameras remotely from a networked PC or HMI, simplifying implementation and reducing costs.

The In-Sight 7000 vision system, packaged in a rugged IP65 housing, features image acquisition of over 100 images a second, auto-focus, powerful vision tools, integrated field-replaceable lighting with five different colour options and the capability to power and control external lighting.

The In-Sight 500 vision system boasts an accelerated acquisition implementation which enables the system to acquire partial images at up to 500 frames per second. In addition to the standard In-Sight programming interface, it is powered by a proprietary vision chip technology: Cognex VSoC (Vision System on a Chip) enables the system to process images at up to 500 fps with windowed acquisition.
