The MEAN WELL DDRH-240 from Conical Technologies is a high-reliability, DIN-rail DC-DC converter developed for systems that must derive stable low-voltage power directly from a high-voltage DC bus. Its wide 250 to 1500 V DC input range covers a 6:1 span, enabling one converter family to support bus voltages in renewable-energy, energy-storage, charging, railway and industrial installations.
The series provides regulated 12 V, 24 V, 32 V or 48 V outputs. The 24 V, 32 V and 48 V versions deliver the full 240 W rating, while the 12 V model supplies up to 200,4 W. Output voltage can be adjusted to suit the application, with adjustment ranges of 12 to 15 V, 24 to 29 V, 30 to 36 V and 48 to 58 V respectively. Typical efficiency reaches 90%, depending on model and input voltage, helping reduce heat inside control panels.
Electrical isolation is a major advantage in high-voltage environments. The DDRH-240 provides reinforced input-to-output isolation rated at 4 kV AC, and withstands a 1700 V DC input surge for 10 seconds. Protection functions include short circuit, overload, output overvoltage, overtemperature, input undervoltage, and reverse-polarity protection.
Designed for demanding installations, the fanless converter operates through natural air convection across a -40 to +80°C ambient range, subject to derating above 50°C. Conformal coating adds protection against environmental contamination, while operation is supported at altitudes up to 5000 metres. Its 85,5 mm-wide enclosure mounts on standard TS-35/7,5 or TS-35/15 DIN rail.
A DC-OK relay contact allows system controllers to monitor converter status. Where additional capacity or redundancy is required, current-sharing supports configurations up to 960 W using four units in a 3+1 arrangement.
With industrial EMC immunity and safety compliance including UL 1741 and IEC/EN 62109-1, the DDRH-240 is well suited to photovoltaic generation, battery energy-storage systems, high-voltage frequency converters, semiconductor equipment, charging infrastructure, third-rail systems, and centralised DC-bus applications. It combines wide-range compatibility, strong isolation and practical system monitoring in a compact industrial package.
