The SAIMC Durban branch hosted S’yabonga Trueman Langa, systems performance engineer at eThekwini Electricity, for an insightful presentation on how substation automation can improve operational efficiency and service quality.
With 15 years’ experience in the electricity supply industry, Langa explained how substation automation helps utilities manage increasingly complex power distribution networks. He showed how real-time monitoring, intelligent automation and improved system visibility enable faster responses to network events, more efficient operations and a more reliable electricity supply.
The presentation addressed the difficulties of managing large, interconnected distribution systems with often unpredictable fault patterns. It also showed how automation technologies support better decision-making, greater efficiency and higher service quality for consumers.
The well-attended event offered valuable insight into the growing role of substation automation in modern electricity networks and sparked lively discussion about the future of intelligent power distribution.
